For Lung Month in November, Reed Medical Group visited the Del Webb community to provide an educational presentation on COPD, asthma, and pneumonia.
In this community health talk, Dr. Bettina Schutzbach, MD explains:
- What COPD really is (chronic bronchitis & emphysema)
- How asthma differs from COPD
- What causes pneumonia
- Risk factors including smoking, pollution, and genetics
- Spirometry testing and diagnosis
- Treatment options including inhalers and oxygen therapy
- When pneumonia becomes dangerous
- The importance of vaccines for lung health
COPD affects millions of Americans and is one of the leading causes of death in the United States. Pneumonia remains a serious risk, especially in older adults. Knowing the symptoms; chronic cough, shortness of breath, wheezing, sputum production, fever can help you seek treatment early.
Thank you to the Del Webb community for hosting this Lung Month educational event.
